Don't pick a book by its cover?

This week I read Melissa Marr's novel Wicked Lovely. Truthfully, I only picked this book out because I thought it looked pretty. Bad, I know. I originally went to the store to buy Revelations, the next book in the Blue Bloods series, but the employee LIED and told me Revelations wouldn't be out until December. To keep myself entertained in the meantime, I grabbed Wicked Lovely because the colors on the cover were pleasing and because I'd never read a book about faeries before.

I thought Wicked Lovely was a very fun read. Although I didn't find it as addictive as books like the House of Night series or the Twilight saga, it did pull me in. There wasn't a whole lot of action, but there WAS a lot of drama. I also enjoyed a break from reading about vampyres, as nearly every book I've chosen to read for fun in the past... six months or so have been vampyre-related. I know, faeries and vampyres are equally fictional and not all that different... but it was a nice change.

In the book, Aislinn (awesome name) has the Sight, meaning she can see faeries that are usually invisible to humans. Her gramma teaches her to ignore the faeries and pretend she cannot see them. Apparently, faeries like to be invisible and can hurt/kill those with the Sight in order to remain unseen. The storyline for the book is that one day, some powerful faeries start following here. I could go on, but I recommend you read it for yourself. It's not too long, 300 pages, and it's a pretty easy read--I read it almost entirely on the RTD. I didn't love it enough to bus to Borders the moment I finished it and buy the next one, but I'm definitely planning on reading Ink Exchange, another Melissa Marr book, eventually.

Musica

I went to see the Spill Canvas and The Hush Sound last night.
I was quite pleased. Compared to the Lovedrug concert last weekend, where my FAVORITE band disappointed me by being very unexcited and not all that great, this concert was wonderful! I had a lot of fun.
I've seen the Hush Sound a few times before. They were never my favorite, but I think they're growing onto me. The last song they preformed was about Obama. It was really fun and much different than all their other songs. I got a quick clip of it on my camera, but it's not the best quality... It made me giggle.

The Spill Canvas was also quite good. I really like their music and they did a pretty good performance. Someone threw their braw on the state (lol).

The headlining band was One Republic. I wasn't looking forward to seeing them at all. For some reason, I decided they were going to be horrible, though I had only known one of their songs. I now have a new found respect for them. The singer is VERY talented, and they have a cello!


Now, I'm so excited for January when Reel Big Fish comes back to Denver. I've already seen them twice, but they truly have the funnest concerts. Unlike these "alternative rock" concerts where everyone stands around not really moving, Reel Big Fish gets everyone moving. There is a huuuge mosh where everyone jumps around and "skanks." AAAH! Can't wait!

Wiztober made my night

I know, I know. Wizards of Waverly Place is a TV show meant to entertain kids my sisters age, right? The thing is, I think it's quite hilarious! I was so excited when I turned on the TV a little while ago and accidentally stumbled upon "WizTober," meaning back-to-back-to-back-to-back episodes of one of my favorite shows! It a nice background for my much less exciting chemistry homework.

I suppose it's simple minded, easy to understand humor along with the in-your-face puns that are hard to miss that make the show appealing to me. The show is so incredibly cheesy, which is also somewhat a turn on in my book. Plus, it's pretty unique. Trapping a guy in jello so you can turn his girlfriend evil by playing tetherball on the top of the Tower of Evil? I don't think I could come up with that (unless I was slap happy and on a caffeine high, I suppose). My little sister and I have got the funky hat song and dance down perfectly >.< It's pretty fun. A few weeks ago, we were singing it and these other little girls ran up and finished it with us. Completely adorable! Sadly, these other children's parents obviously don't know what their kids are watching, and were completely lost as to what was going on ("Wizards of what now?)

That aside, I also absolutely love (most of) Alex Russo (played by Selena Gomez)'s outfits. They are incredibly unique and, for the most part, well put together. I also Selena's hair. Overall, she's pretty much gorgeous :) I can only hope she stays on the "right path" and doesn't become the next Britney Spears/Miley Cyrus.

Man, life would be so much harder to live with millions of little kids, their parents, and the rest of the world, following your every movement... Ew. I don't even want to imagine that..

Best (most pathetic) dream ever last night!

So... Last night I had a pretty amazingly pathetic (in a happy kind of way) dream. I was on the bus when I ran into my cousin, Galen (I've probably seen him once in the past year) , who told me there was a free concert at Red Rocks that night. Mason, another cousin of mine (who I also never see... odd that I'd dream of them) became a bus driver and drove Lane, some amigos, and myself to the concert, which turned out to be the Jonas Brothers! (WOOT!) I was super excited and got to meet Kevin. :) My friends (who have a "plan" to go to the next jobros show and start a mosh) gave in to the awesomeness of the band and didn't start crap. What a lovely night... Told ya it was pathetic. Much better than my dream the night before when my body rejected the change and my life's blood poured out of me... I think I've been reading too many vampire books lately.

I'm truly a horrible person.
